Week 21: Getting there...

Not so much to report this week...
Bear is making really good progress since the operation last Monday, he's pretty fed up with the 'cone of shame' and keeps bumping into things as he forgets that he needs the extra space but he's walking really well on the leg and it's all healing nicely. We go back to see the vet on Friday to have the stitches removed and hopefully get the all clear to travel.
Aside from spending lots of time with Bear, we've been focusing on getting everything ready to set-off for the next trip, although we're still keeping everything crossed for the final few things that we need to go our way!
We're both trying not to get too excited in case we don't make it (again)... but the closer it gets, the more real it feels. I've started planning the route and stop-overs down through France to Spain. As we don't want to make Bear travel for too many hours each day, we'll probably take four days to get to Spain, this means we only need to cover around 200 miles each day, so plenty of time to stop and stretch our legs en-route... just need to decide which route and if we want to pay the motorway tolls, or take it a bit slower on the minor roads, we'll probably set-off with one plan but then change it as we go depending on the weather and how we feel.
Yvette had a haircut this week, which is major news... it's her first haircut in a salon since before COVID, I'm sure she‘ll post some pictures soon!
When Bear had his surgery we dropped him off and went to see my parents for the day, here's a few pictures of their dogs Martha and Maya... (Maya is the white one, she's the cheekier and braver of the two, Martha is quite shy and prefers peace and quiet... although she seems to like seeing Bear, which is rarely peaceful).
Martha and Maya checking that all the icecream was gone before recycling the pots!

If you're thinking Bear's cone looks too big... it's because he has a super flexible neck and if we use the next size down he can still get to his stitches... we're not making him wear it for fun!

Everything crossed that you’ll be able to travel 🤞
Fingers crossed that we will be wishing you BonVoyage very soon!
My vote is the minor roads down through France. Way nicer but will take a fair while longer! Good luck for the crossing. We have fingers and toes crossed for you! Amazing to hear Bear is mending well! Pictures please Yvette!
