Radcot

We’re just back from a beautiful campsite in Radcot, a little over half an hour from home and right on the river Thames.

The view from our pitch

Before we arrived the campsite warned us that it was going to be really busy so we arrived expecting to find a packed campsite… when we got there we found around 10 vans spread out across three acres of woodland running alongside the river Thames!

Bob and Sonja (Steve’s mum and dad) joined us for the weekend along with their two little dogs Martha and Maya (Bear’s closest canine relations). We spent most of the weekend walking, chatting, eating and sitting by the river enjoying the peace and quiet.

Bear had a great time playing with Martha and Maya and generally causing trouble... at one point he made a dash for it and went to visit the neighbours (think home invasion more than an invited guest), luckily they didn’t mind and were very friendly and understanding!

It was great to make the most of being so close to the river, I managed to fit in three SUP (stand up paddle board) trips up and down the river… even passing a pub twice without stopping for a pint!

Yvette kept up her exercise regime doing a couple of online exercise classes in Bob and Sonja’s awning… despite a few odd looks from people walking along the path on the other side of the river!

On Sunday morning I went for a 2 mile walk with my mum along the river path, this was the first 2 miles done of a 62 mile walking challenge that Sonja is doing in August to raise money for Refuge, a charity which supports women and children experiencing domestic violence.

If you’d like to help, Sonja’s fundraising page is: https://tinyurl.com/4f259927

Finally, here is a picture of Bear posing in front of some wild meadow flowers… it was actually taken a few weeks ago in St Neots (Cambridgeshire) but we know most of you only read our blog to see pictures of him!!!
